His father, Leopold Mozart, who was forced to stay in Salzburg in the employ of Prince-Archbishop Colloredo, sent his wife Anna Maria Mozart to accompany their son on his search for gainful employment. Her daughter, Maria Anna Mozart ('Nannerl') also had a career as a musician.
